When Hazel gets the lead role in a slasher film, she's excited for the opportunity to prove herself as an actress and star in a horror movie, her favorite genre. The only issue is that the movie takes place in Pine Springs, the home of her father-- a convicted murderer known as the Pine Springs Slasher. But when strange "accidents" start happening on set, followed by an actual murder, Haze starts to wonder if her father was actually the killer all along.
Final Cut by Olivia Worley reminded me immensely of the movie Scream, and if you enjoyed watching Ghostface terrorize a bunch of teenagers, you'll enjoy reading this book. It's a fun, twisty teenage slasher with a bloody high body count that can be enjoyed by both teens and adults who are fans of the slasher genre. Hazel is such a fun, strong "final girl" to root for, and the tension is tightly woven throughout the book. I read this one so quickly because I needed to know who the killer was, and I'm sure other readers will, too!
