Families with babies and expecting parents
We're celebrating babies and their families at our first Baby Fair! Join us for resource tables, car seat checks, baby massage and nutrition sessions, support for new and expecting parents, giveaways, and more!
Photo Booth
Backdrops and props will be available for baby or family pictures.
Baby Play Area
Need a break from the sessions? We'll have a baby play area set up with developmentally appropriate toys for your little one to try out!
Car Seat Checks-Wheaton Police Department
The Wheaton Police Department will be offering car seat checks in the library's parking lot (near the outdoor book drops). Learn from them about recalls, best practices, state law, and more. Car seat checks will be available 10am-1pm.
Nutrition Sessions
Solid Foods: This session will cover the basics of starting solids including incorporating nutrient-dense foods and introducing top allergens into your baby's diet. Solid Foods session will be at 10:30am.
Ask the Expert: Join pediatric registered dietitian and mom of 2, Dana Peters, for this "Ask the Expert" session and get all of your baby nutrition questions answered. Ask the Expert will be at 11:45am.
Lactation Consulting
VP Lactation Consulting offers a welcoming group where you can meet other breastfeeding moms, ask questions, and get hands-on assistance and support. Led by Katie Manusos and Andrea Peach, Board Certified Lactation Consultants. Group sessions will be at 10-11:30am and 11:30am-1pm.
Infant Massage
Join our free infant massage class to learn gentle, soothing massage techniques to help support healthy development, sleep, and digestion! Appropriate for babies 2-8 months or expectant parents interested in bonding through nurturing touch. Led by Biorhythm Massage & Artistry, LLC. Infant massage sessions will be at 10:30 and 11:45am.
Baby Safety & CPR
Recommended for expectant couples, new parents, and any other child-care providers, including grandparents, these baby safety/CPR sessions will be taught by American Heart Association certified instructors. Sessions will include steps for infant and child CPR and airway obstruction maneuvers/choking prevention. Safety sessions will be at 10:15am, 11:15am, and 12:15pm.
Head Shape and Neck Tightness Concerns in Infants
Did you know that about half of all babies will develop flat head syndrome (plagiocephaly) or neck movement issues (torticollis) in their first year of life? Come learn from pediatric physical therapist, Dr. Amy Swain, about how to detect plagiocephaly and torticollis in your newborn and how timely and gentle physical therapy can make all of the difference in your baby's head shape and motor development. This session will be at 11:15am.

Children & Caregivers
This program is intended for children and caregivers to participate together; drop offs are not allowed.

In the course of daily operations, the library may take photographs within public areas of the library. Written permission is not needed for Library staff to take photographs of groups or crowds including children in the library building or during library sponsored events.
