If you enjoy mysteries intertwined with family drama and emotion, then you will love The Last Anniversary (2025), based on the novel by Liane Moriarty. When Sophie, a journalist, unexpectedly inherits a house on the fictional Scribbly Gum Island in Australia from her ex-fiancée's aunt, she soon becomes involved in the lives of the island residents, who all have their own secrets. The island is also the home of the famously unsolved Munro Baby mystery, making it a sort of true-crime tourist destination. There is some dark subject matter (postpartum depression, suicidal thoughts, and sexual assault), but I really enjoyed this mini-series for the exotic setting, eccentric characters, and compelling story.
