Birthday Parties

Celebrate like never before. Let the Center for History plan it, put it on, and clean up when it's over. All you need to bring is the birthday cake and we'll serve it!

Birthday PartyAll Aboard
All aboard for birthday party fun as the birthday-child conductor stamps your ticket, and you hear a story about a time when everyone came downtown to see the train. Make your own signal lantern and practice learning the signals as you play "red light, white light, green light." Does the baggage car belong with the freight train or passenger train? Match the car to the train and learn the signals linemen use to keep everyone safe on the railroad. Enjoy a snack of sandwiches, red light/green light jello, popcorn, and lemonade, dining car style.

Dinosaur
Travel back to the exciting world of Triceratops and Tyrannosaurus Rex as you 'dig' dinosaurs at the Center for History. Make those teeth sharp as you create your own T-Rex mask. Go on a dig to hunt bones and other cool stuff. Explore the world of paleontology and discover the prehistoric giants that roamed DuPage County. Enjoy a tasty lunch of sandwich, chips and juice at the dig.

Teddy Bears & Dolls Birthday Party Outer Space

Blast off for outer space fun as you make your own wax lunar rock. Get your photograph taken with each of your guests, then decorate picture frames so everyone has a memory of the party or create a star catcher to hang in your room. Hear a fun Dr. Suess story about the solar system. Play some fun games and enjoy a lunch of a galactic sandwich, 'Rings of Saturn 'fruit, asteroid corn, and lemonade.

Teddy Bears & Dolls

Bring your favorite doll to join you at this fun teddy bears and dolls party. Guests will sew, stuff, and decorate their own cuddly teddy bear. In addition, guests craft their own yarn doll or paper dolls. Discover the fun history of the teddy bear and enjoy a teddy-shaped sandwich with jello, mini-muffins and lemonade.

Victorian Tea
This elegant affair is a wonderful party for any age level. A beautifully set table of white linens, glass dishes and flowers greets guests. Discover the amazing world of fan language and learn how to say "I Love You" with your fan. Make a tussie mussie with fresh flowers to take home. Discover the meaning of flowers and how a bouquet can send a message. Then make your own calling card as you talk about the art of calling in the Victorian Era. Play a few Victorian parlor games, before you retire to the parlor for tea sandwiches, muffins, and lemonade.
