- Borrow books, magazines CDs, and DVDs from the library - don’t buy them. Did you know that you can get your name on the waiting list for popular bestsellers and movies? We can notify you when your item is ready for pickup by email (or by phone if you prefer).
- Don’t pay for legal forms from a website! The library subscribes to Legal Forms - a database of free forms covering hundreds of legal subjects and issues. Ask at the Reference Desk and we’ll get you started. Or you can use it and other subscription databases from home! See the research category Government & Law.*
- Do your research before you buy. The library subscribes to Consumer Reports which rates products from automobiles and dishwashers to paper towels and wine. The online database Consumer’s Checkbook evaluates the quality and prices of Chicagoland businesses like repair shops, plumbers, dentists, banks, and insurance companies. These databases are not available from home, but links to websites and catalog searches are. See the research category Consumer Information.*

- Did the new TV show Who Do You Think You Are? (NBC) spark an interest in searching for your ancestors? The library subscribes to the full Ancestry.com database, which means there is no charge for you. Come to the library and begin your search today. A Reference librarian can get you started. Also, volunteer genealogists are here to help on Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m.-Noon and Thursdays from 7:00-9:00 p.m.
