Star Wars Saturday with the 501st + Free Comic Book Day!

Stop by the library to pick up a free comic book (while supplies last) and celebrate Star Wars Day (May the 4th be with you!). Hang out with members of the 501st Legion, a Star Wars costuming organization, dressed as storm troopers and other characters. Make sure to bring your cameras!

Getting Started with Arduino

Learn the basics of programming and building circuits with the Arduino microcontroller by building a simple blinking light circuit and experimenting with a sample program provided by Workshop 88. A Solar Eclipse is Coming!

On August 21, 2017, for the first time in almost 30 years, a total solar eclipse will be visible from the continental U.S. in a 71-mile-wide path stretching from Oregon to South Carolina. From the Chicago area, about 85% of the Sun will be covered by the Moon. Learn about eclipses and how you can enjoy this exciting event from Michelle Nichols, Master Educator from the Adler Planetarium.

Arduino Musical Instruments

Total Eclipse 2017: Solar Powered Fun!

Drop by to prepare for the total solar eclipse! Grab a pair of eclipse viewing glasses, make a pinhole viewer, and more. We'll have crafts and eclipse information for all ages. Not interested in standing outside to watch the eclipse? We'll also be showing NASA's live webcast from Southern Illinois University beginning at 11am.
