Computers in the Library

The library has 26 Online Catalog Stations and 76 public PC Workstations throughout the library. Four print-release stations offer printouts in color ($1 per page) or black and white (10¢ per page). Public computers and print stations are located in these areas of the library:
1st Floor: Reference Department and Genealogy area.
1st Floor Print Station: in the Genealogy area.
2nd Floor: Computer Lab, Computer Classroom, across from the Magazine Desk, teenspace and ESL/Literacy.
2nd Floor Print Stations: in the Computer Lab and at the Magazine Desk.
Children's Department, Lower Level: Main area and Reference area.
Lower Level Print Station: in the Reference area.

Wireless Access
Wireless access points have been installed throughout the building. The library filters all of the Internet stations, including Internet access from a personal laptop using the wireless connection.

View Your Record
Log in to your library record using your library barcode number and PIN to see what you have checked out and renew material that is not overdue. Search the catalog and easily place holds.

Internet
35 workstations are available for Internet use. Wheaton Public Library cardholders who are registered users log in with their library barcode numbers and PINs and have a one-hour time limit. Nonresidents who do not have a Wheaton library card may receive a 30-minute guest pass at the Computer Desk. The library filters all of the Internet stations. Online Databases
Online databases cover a variety of research topics including companies, investments, real estate, genealogy and family history, books and reading and health and science. There are also full text articles from magazines, newspapers and encyclopedias.

Software
Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Publisher. Adobe Photoshop is available in the Computer Lab and Computer Classroom.

Genealogy CD-ROMs

Multimedia Learning Games & ESL Programs
Learning games on CD-ROM for kids in preschool through grade school and into high school as well as CD-ROM programs that teach English as a second language. A Wheaton Public Library card is required to use the game computers in the Children's Department. ESL programs are available on the workstation in that area.
