Computer Classes

Registration is Required for All Classes
  • Registration begins December 2 for classes in December, January and February.
  • Register separately for each class.
  • All classes require a valid library barcode number except for iPad/iPhone Q & A and Learn to Skype. If you do not have a Wheaton Public Library card, register the library card from your home library at the Checkout Desk prior to registering for a computer class and you may use that barcode to register for classes.

Learn to Skype
Connect to your far-flung family and friends for free! See how Skype can be used for affordable phone and video conference calls.

Have you always wanted to start your own blog or website, but didn’t know where to begin? Learn what a blog is and how to start one for free using WordPress.

Getting Started with Pinterest
Learn all about Pinterest, a pinboard-style photo sharing website that allows users to create theme-based image collections for interests and hobbies.

iPad/iPhone Q & A
Get a general overview of using an iPad to download apps, check email and more. Bring all your questions!

Not sure how to upload a profile picture? Concerned about privacy on Facebook? Ask all your questions!

Facebook account and basic knowledge of using the Internet is required.

Introduction to Microsoft Word 2010
Learn basic navigation skills to effectively use Word 2010. Cutting and pasting, saving, printing, and creating and editing a basic document are covered. This class is perfect for those who are new to word processing. It is also recommended for those who are interested in learning the features of the 2010 version.
Meets in the Computer Classroom, 2nd Floor.
Typing and basic computer skills, especially using a keyboard and mouse, are required.

Intermediate Microsoft Word 2010
Learn to add and edit pictures, WordArt, columns, bullet points, and much more. This class is recommended for those who would like to have more than a basic understanding of Microsoft Word. It is also helpful to those who are interested in learning the features of the 2010 version.
Meets in the Computer Classroom, 2nd Floor.
Typing and keyboarding skills and experience using Microsoft Word are required.

Introduction to Microsoft Excel 2010
Learn the basics of this incredibly versatile spreadsheet program. Creating charts, sorting, simple formulas, and basic formatting are covered.

Typing and basic computer skills, especially using a keyboard and mouse, are required.

Mail Merge
This handy process uses Excel and Word. Learn to turn a list of names and addresses into a sheet of mailing labels, thank you letters, and more! This class is great for those who want to learn this time-saving skill, as well as those who would like a review using Office 2010.
Meets in the Computer Classroom, 2nd Floor.
Typing and keyboarding skills and experience using Microsoft Word are required. Knowledge of Microsoft Excel is helpful.

Introduction to Microsoft PowerPoint 2010
Need to create a wedding or family slide show? A speech or presentation for school or church? PowerPoint can help and we can help you learn PowerPoint! Learn to use different slide layouts, transitions, animations, and photos in this amazing program.
